Adding categories

There is one thing missing in Blogger: a tool to categorise the posts.

Todays mission was to find a way to do it anyway. A quick search led me to an O'reilly hack which suggested that one should make a blog for each category and then feed the main blog with posts in the category blogs. I tried that and the result is visible beneath this post.

I wasn't satisfied with it, because

• I don't like that one can see that the post has been emailed to the blog.
• It would be rather time consuming to add a post to more than one category using this method.
• It's a bit annoying to have to have x amount of different blogs just to be able to categorise the posts on one blog.

There were some comments to the hack and one of them suggested that one use del.icio.us tags for categorising blog posts. I already had a del.icio.us account, so it only took me a few moments to create the first categogy - photo. It's not too much extra work, I just have to add a line in the bottom of the post saying categories: whatever and then link whatever to del.icio.us/laurits/whatever.

I'll use it from now and see how it works for me.
