Sorrounded by Clear Channel

The other morning I heard a song by and some words about an American singer/songwriter called David Rovics. He is very political, critical and left wing. Apparently his songs are not played on the radio in the United States, at least not on the on the stations owned by friendly neighbourhood mega-corporation Clear Channel. According to its web site Clear Channel owns about 1200 radio stations in the US.

In Denmark Clear Channel controls half the market for outdoors advertising and owns the biggest concert booking company DKB-Motor.

Clear Channel supports the republican party in the states and its radio stations favours the conservative side in American politics.

What worries me is not so much that Clear Channel supports George Bush, but rather that one corporation has so much power and influence.
